Welcome to MicroDramaFest. These Terms and Conditions (“Terms”) govern your access to and use of the MicroDramaFest website, film submission platform, event registration services, screenings, awards, and related festival activities.

MicroDramaFest 2027, including the 9:16 Drama International Film Festival & Awards, is presented by MDC Globe International (“Organizer,” “we,” “us,” or “our”).

By accessing our website, submitting a film, registering for the festival, purchasing a ticket, or participating in any festival activity, you agree to these Terms. If you do not agree, please refrain from using the website or participating in the applicable services.

The festival may include film screenings, international premieres, industry panels, networking opportunities, red-carpet events, awards ceremonies, creator interactions, and other related activities.

The Organizer reserves the right to modify the festival program, schedule, venue arrangements, event format, or associated activities when reasonably necessary.

4. Ownership and Intellectual Property Rights

Filmmakers and other rights holders retain ownership of their submitted films and original intellectual property, subject to any separate agreements they have entered into.

Submitting a film does not transfer ownership of the film to MicroDramaFest or MDC Globe International.

However, by submitting a project, you grant the Organizer a non-exclusive, worldwide, royalty-free license, for the purpose of administering, promoting, and presenting the festival, to use the materials you provide, including:

  • Film titles, synopses, loglines, and descriptions.
  • Approved film stills, posters, trailers, and promotional clips.
  • Names, professional biographies, photographs, and approved likenesses of participating filmmakers and representatives.
  • Film excerpts and other promotional materials, subject to the permissions and limitations of the applicable submission agreement.

This license applies only to materials for which you have the necessary rights and permissions. It does not authorize unrestricted commercial exploitation of your complete film.

Any screening, distribution, licensing, commercial use, or other exploitation beyond the scope of this license will require an appropriate separate authorization or agreement, where applicable.

You are responsible for ensuring that all required permissions have been obtained from relevant contributors and rights holders.

5. Festival Selection and Awards

All selection, nomination, programming, and award decisions are made in accordance with the festival’s applicable rules and procedures.

The Organizer reserves the right to determine the categories, judging procedures, eligibility criteria, selection process, and award structure.

Unless expressly stated otherwise in the applicable rules:

  • Submission does not guarantee selection or nomination.
  • Selection does not guarantee an award.
  • Decisions made by the festival’s authorized selection committee or jury are final, subject to applicable law and any published appeal or review procedure.
  • The Organizer may change categories, judging arrangements, or award details when reasonably necessary.

The Organizer will not be responsible for representations made by unauthorized individuals concerning selection, nominations, awards, or guaranteed recognition.

Where applicable, submission fees, registration fees, ticket prices, and other charges will be displayed or communicated before payment.

You are responsible for reviewing the applicable charges and providing accurate payment information.

Unless expressly stated otherwise in the applicable submission or ticketing policy, fees are not refundable merely because a submission is not selected, nominated, screened, or awarded.

Any cancellation, refund, transfer, or rescheduling request will be handled in accordance with the specific policy applicable to the relevant payment or booking and applicable consumer protection laws.

The Organizer reserves the right to correct pricing or administrative errors and to cancel an affected transaction where permitted by law.

Any ticket transfer, resale, cancellation, or refund is subject to the applicable ticketing terms.

8. Event Schedule, Venue, and Changes

Festival dates, schedules, screenings, speakers, guests, venues, and programming details may be subject to change.

The Organizer will make reasonable efforts to communicate material changes through the official website or other appropriate communication channels.

If an event is postponed, relocated, modified, or cancelled, the applicable refund, rescheduling, or alternative arrangements will be determined in accordance with the relevant event policy and applicable law.

The Organizer does not guarantee the appearance of any particular filmmaker, celebrity, speaker, guest, or industry representative unless expressly confirmed in a separate written agreement.

Separate consent may be requested for interviews, testimonials, featured appearances, or other promotional content that specifically identifies or highlights an individual.

12. Third-Party Websites and Services

Our website may contain links to third-party websites, submission platforms, ticketing services, payment processors, sponsors, media partners, or other external services.

These services may operate under their own terms, privacy policies, and practices.

The Organizer does not control all third-party services and is not responsible for their content, availability, policies, or operations, except to the extent responsibility cannot lawfully be excluded.

You should review the applicable terms and privacy policies before using external services or providing personal information to them.

14. Disclaimers

The website and its content are provided on an “as available” basis, subject to applicable law.

Although the Organizer makes reasonable efforts to maintain accurate and current information, it does not guarantee that all website content will always be complete, error-free, uninterrupted, or available.

The Organizer may update website content, correct errors, or temporarily suspend access for maintenance, security, technical, or operational reasons.

Nothing in these Terms excludes any warranty, right, or protection that cannot lawfully be excluded under applicable law.

15. Limitation of Liability

To the maximum extent permitted by applicable law, the Organizer will not be liable for indirect, incidental, special, consequential, or punitive losses arising from the use of the website or participation in festival activities.

This provision does not exclude or limit liability for fraud, willful misconduct, gross negligence where such exclusion is prohibited, death or personal injury where liability cannot lawfully be excluded, or any other liability that cannot be limited under applicable law.

Nothing in these Terms affects statutory rights that cannot be waived or restricted.

16. Indemnification

To the extent permitted by applicable law, you agree to be responsible for losses, claims, damages, liabilities, and reasonable legal expenses arising from your material breach of these Terms, your unlawful conduct, or your infringement of third-party rights.

This provision applies only to the extent that the relevant loss or claim results from your conduct or breach and is not attributable to the Organizer’s own unlawful acts or other circumstances for which liability cannot legally be excluded.

17. Force Majeure

The Organizer will not be responsible for delays, interruptions, modifications, or cancellations caused by circumstances beyond its reasonable control, including natural disasters, extreme weather, public health emergencies, government restrictions, civil unrest, terrorism, war, strikes, major technical failures, or venue unavailability.

Where such circumstances affect the festival, the Organizer will make reasonable efforts to communicate material changes and implement appropriate alternative arrangements, subject to applicable law and the relevant event policies.

18. Changes to These Terms

The Organizer may revise these Terms from time to time to reflect changes in festival operations, website functionality, legal requirements, or other relevant circumstances.

Updated Terms will be published on this page with a revised “Last Updated” date.

Changes will apply from the effective date indicated in the updated Terms, subject to applicable law. Where required, the Organizer will seek additional consent or provide notice of material changes.

Your continued use of the website after the effective date of an update constitutes acceptance of the revised Terms to the extent permitted by law.

19. Governing Law and Dispute Resolution

These Terms will be governed by the laws specified in the final version of this section, subject to applicable conflict-of-law rules and mandatory legal protections.

Any dispute arising out of or relating to these Terms will be handled by the courts or other dispute-resolution forum specified by the Organizer, subject to applicable law.

Before publication, the Organizer should insert the correct governing law and jurisdiction based on its legal entity, operating arrangements, and applicable legal advice.

20. Severability and Waiver

If any provision of these Terms is found to be invalid, unlawful, or unenforceable, the remaining provisions will continue in effect to the extent legally permissible.

A failure or delay by the Organizer to enforce a provision does not constitute a waiver of its right to enforce that provision later.

21. Entire Agreement

These Terms, together with any applicable submission guidelines, ticketing terms, privacy policy, competition rules, and separate written agreements, govern your use of the website and participation in the relevant festival activities.
